00For startups

you run the company. now you hire for it.

Follow Meera as she hires her first backend engineer between everything else. Every step she takes is how oorik recruit works.

01Before

eight applications, in the order they arrived.

Before oorik, Meera's applications land in the order people sent them, and the one she needs is fifth in a pile of eight. Getting to her means reading the four before her first.

02The role

say what the job cannot do without.

On oorik recruit Meera writes the role, or uploads the description she already has, and lists up to 12 must-haves. Drafts use nothing; a posting is used only when she publishes.

A sample job form for a backend engineer with 3 to 6 years of experience in Bengaluru, hybrid. Must-have skills are Go, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Kubernetes, gRPC. Nice-to-have skills are Redis and Terraform. Publishing it uses 1 posting.
03The ranked list

the same eight people, best match first.

Each applicant arrives with a match, a Strong, Good or Partial band and the must-haves they meet and miss. Ananya moves from fifth to first, and nobody is hidden or rejected on the way.

How ranking works
The eight applicants, first in the order they arrived with Ananya R. fifth, then sorted by match: Ananya R. 92, Strong, 5 of 5 must-haves; Kabir M. 86, Strong, 5 of 5 must-haves; Ishita P. 78, Strong, 4 of 5 must-haves; Arjun N. 71, Good, 4 of 5 must-haves; Sana Q. 63, Good, 3 of 5 must-haves; Dev K. 44, Partial, 2 of 5 must-haves; Neha V. 39, Partial, 2 of 5 must-haves; Rahul B. 31, Partial, 1 of 5 must-haves.
04The rounds

her rounds, her names.

Meera names three rounds the way she interviews, out of up to 8, and moves people on a board. Each candidate is emailed about two minutes after her last move.

A sample board with an Applied column and three rounds named by Meera. Applied: Arjun N., Sana Q., Dev K.. Intro call: Ishita P.. Code review: Kabir M.. Founder chat: Ananya R.. Declined: Rahul B. and Neha V., both emailed. Contact details are open only in Founder chat. Ishita moved to Intro call. We email her about two minutes after your last move.
05Contact details

judge the work first. talk at the final round.

Until her last round Meera sees name, headline, city, work history, education, skills and the match. Email, phone and resume open when she moves someone into it or marks them hired, unless the candidate shares them sooner.

PlacementIndia (July 2025) puts agency fees in India at 8% to 20% of the hire's annual CTC, roughly one to two and a half months of salary. Hyring (August 2026) puts contingency fees at 8.33% to 15% of annual CTC, with retained search higher. An agency also finds candidates for you. oorik recruit does not: people apply to your posting.
